Cambodian Women's Crisis Center (CWCC)
Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center (CWCC) is a national nongovernmental organization, founded in 1997 and registered with the Ministry of the Interior in Phnom Penh since 1998. The overall goal of CWCC is to contribute to right-based empowerment of vulnerable women and girls through protection, prevention, and advocacy in order to promote a peaceful, gender-equitable, and compassionate society. CWCC has focused its intervention and services on alleviating violence against women and empowering survivors, particularly related to the areas of domestic violence, sexual abuse, labour exploitation and trafficking of women and children. The work of the CWCC has expanded from a crisis shelter in Phnom Penh to several more shelters in the provinces of Banteay Meanchey (1999), Siem Reap (2001), and Kampong Thom (2012). Social assistance at the early stage has also expanded CWCC’s work regarding legal protection, community organization, economic empowerment and advocacy at both national and international levels.
For over 20 years, CWCC has maintained strong experience in empowering women and girl survivors of gender-based violence (particularly trafficking, sexual abuse, and domestic violence) to claim their rights and assist them in accessing support services. CWCC’s reputation in combating violence against women is highly regarded at both the national and international levels.
