The Federation of International Human Rights Museums (FIHRM) is an important affiliated organization of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). FIHRM, established in 2010 at the initiative of the International Slave Museum of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. FIHRM aims to promote the practice of international human rights, with the goal of consolidating the strength of human rights museums / organizations / associations around the world, cares about various human rights issues, and expects alliances to cooperate with each other to inspire new thinking and build good environment to promote human rights as universal values.

FIHRM-Latin America (FIHRM-LA) established in 2017 at the Museo Internacional para la Democracia (International Museum for Democracy), in Rosario, Argentina. In September 2019, FIHRM-AP was officially launched at National Human Rights Museum, Taiwan.

On the basis of the history of human rights struggles in Taiwan, FIHRM Asia-Pacific (FIHRM-AP) provides a platform for human rights museums, museum professionals, human rights organizations, human rights workers and the general public in the Asia-Pacific region for facing together the regional history filled with persecutions and violations of human rights and to start dialogues with reconciliation, transforming negative cultural memories into democratic and human rights assets as the substantial foundation for sustainable development.

FIHRM-AP hopes to connect regional human rights museums and organizations to combine our efforts on a path of a human-rights-centered museum values to promote the practice of contemporary human rights and to protect the free democratic systems.
