Awakening Foundation 婦女新知基金會
Awakening Foundation is a non-for-profit organization (NPO) that aims to promote gender equality. In 1982, a group of women began to advocate women's rights via "Awakening Magazine" under martial law in Taiwan. Awakening Foundation was later registered as a non-governmental organization in 1987 when martial law was lifted.

For over three decades, Awakening Foundation has been widely recognized as the organization which promote gender equal policy and institutional reform. In 1989, Awakening Foundation began to advocate for Gender Equality in Employment Bill, which was then promulgated in 2002. Awakening Foundation continued work with Taipei Warm Life Association and other women group to amend civil codes to reduce the inequality in family law. Awakening Foundation also urged the government to include national machinery to be in charge of gender issues.

Our current goals are to 1) lobby the law makers to embed the concept of affirmative consent (only yes means yes) into legislation and to broadly communicate the idea to the public, and 2) urge the government to provide public care giving services as well as improve gender equality practices in the workplace, such as long-term and paid family care giving leaves.

The main advocating objectives of Awakening Foundation:

Gender equality and body and sexual autonomy
Gender equality, marriage, and family judicial reforms
Equal marriage and rights
Gender equality and care issues
Gender equality and labor relations
Gender equality and education and culture
Gender equality, politics and gender mainstreaming
Gender equality and pension reforms
